The fall of 1981, Innovative Design Concepts, Inc. or IDTI, opened the doors for business. In 1991, the business became international and the business name changed to Innovative Design & Technologies, International, or IDTI. The international business involved ventures for housing in Poland and Bulgaria. A research and venture trip was conducted to Bulgaria and talks involved the new government regarding multiple housing and retail support facilities.
The founder established IDTI as a full service business from the beginning to those who desire an agent to assist and guide them with their building project from the beginning of planning to the completion of construction. It was determined that the most common cause for failed building projects is the broken line of communication and trust between the owner and all project participants.
IDTI supports the client during project planning, design, budget analysis, bidding, zoning, financing, construction management and occupancy start-up. This relationship builds trust and consistency of project processing and accountability to the owner. The fear of having no one in the client's corner is a deterrent for many would-be projects. IDTI is not a design/build business but rather an agent of the owner for the entire process, if so desired. The founder, as a licensed architect from 1982 to 1997, has extensive experience in the relationship between design and construction to better comply with a client's budget through the entire process of a project.
From the beginning, the focus was and is building occupant safety, comfort, reduced building costs while retaining the highest quality, durability, storm resistance, energy efficiency, and advanced technologies achievable, assuring clients the best of all possibilities available for their project and budget.
In 1986, the U.S. Patent Office issued the founder a patent on a building construction system. This system has since been used successfully in all of nearly 300 IDTI client projects since 1981 to present day. This construction system was developed to provide advanced building strength in the event of storm wind forces, earthquakes and to reduce typical building settlement woes. Additionally, the system incorporates extraordinary energy efficiency methods and technologies that provides the building owners 60-80% lower energy costs, having been verified by independent energy agencies. Not only does the system provide greater building strength, but results in lower construction costs, proven over the years to be in the range of 30-50% of conventional means of construction for similar building types.
The founder has always taken pride in being a good listener for the client's needs and concerns and then carefully utilize talents and experience to satisfy the client's project program requirements.
IDTI has, over the years, been recognized for many national design and energy efficiency awards. IDTI was invited for four consecutive years to produce representative centerpiece homes for a prestigious indoor home show in Indianapolis at the Indiana State Fairgrounds that displayed IDTI's abilities to thousands of public show attendees interested in new homes. The Indianapolis Home Show provided IDTI a reputation that became a household name in central Indiana for many years hence.
